We raise two types of chickens for eggs and for meat. They range on our grass pasture and in the surrounding woods and are able to forage for all the greens and insects they desire. They also happen to have a great view of north Penobscot Bay and the Camden Hills.
We have around 100 hens and they are producing eggs like crazy! We always have a couple dozen in the entry way of the house on the honor system.
Good Tern Co-op in Rockland is now stocking our eggs as well.
We are delivering whole chickens and cut ups (breast, leg quarters, and wings) every Wednesday. Shoot us an email or give us a call to place an order anytime at wildledgefarm@gmail.com or 207-863-5140
We raise a small batch of Turkeys each year available in November for Thanksgiving. If you and your family are interested in ordering one, reach out at wildledgefarm@gmail.com.
Is the chicken feed medicated?
- We feed non-medicated chicken feed to all our birds so they are always free of antibiotics.
Does the chicken feed contain GMO's?
- We use 100% GMO free feed that has been tested at the mill for GMO's and mycotoxins.
Are your birds happy?
- Our birds have daily access to grass (during the growing season), sun, shade, bugs, water, and protection from predators. We make sure they are never over crowded or in unsanitary conditions. We believe this makes for happy and healthy birds.
What types of meat birds do you raise?
- When it comes to meat bird varieties: We raise both Cornish Cross type birds and Red Ranger type birds depending on the price and availability and will always let you know on the packaging or during the sale which variety you're getting.
Are the laying hens fed a vegetarian diet?
-No, our laying flock is not vegetarian or vegan.
